Our Opportunities

Science

The Science curriculum provides students with the understanding, knowledge and skills in order to develop a scientific view of the world. Students are challenged to explore science, its concepts and its relation to the real world through clearly described inquiry processes. Science has three strands, Science Understanding, Science as a Human Endeavour and Science Inquiry Skills.

The Science Understanding strand comprises of Biological Science, Chemical Science, Earth-Space Science and Physical Science. Through these sciences, students improve their understanding and explanations of the natural world around them.

The Science as a Human Endeavour strand develops an appreciation of the unique nature of science and scientific knowledge, including how current knowledge has developed over time due to the actions of many people. It considers the use and influence of science, explores how science knowledge and applications affect peoples’ lives, including their work, and how science is influenced by society and can be used to inform decisions and actions.

The Science Inquiry strand relates to activities in which students identify and pose questions; plan, conduct and reflect on investigations; process, analyse and interpret evidence; and communicate findings.

Primary Science Connections is an innovative program and is used by teachers at Bambara Primary School. This program links science with literacy in order to enhance student investigation skill and Design and Technology through the school’s Kitchen Garden program of Food Production.
