Our Opportunities

Health and Physical Education

Health and Physical Education provides students with an understanding of personal health and the skills needed for confident participation in sport and recreational activities. Students learn to make responsible decisions about health and physical activity and promote their own and others’ health and well-being. Our Physical Education program links with the school’s Sun Smart Policy, Crunch and Sip and Asthma Friendly Schools.

At Bambara Primary School, students participate in a specialist Physical Education Program. The program in the early years is underpinned by the Fundamental Movement Skills, focussing on developing movement and ball skills.

In the middle years of schooling, students learn specialised ball skills which lead to minor games play where ball skills are applied. Knowing and using Game Rules and Game Etiquette are explored as students compete in a number of school and interschool events. and Friday afternoon sports.

During Term 2, students from Pre Primary to Year 6 participate in a specialised dance program. In Term 3, the athletic program dominates the physical education program, and involves all students in cross country, faction and interschool athletics programs.

Students are placed in a faction on enrolment and then represent their faction in numerous sports events.

In addition to the schools Physical Education program, Bambara Primary School hosts the Sporting Schools program and short 2-3 day clinics in the various sporting codes.
