Languages
The LOTE program at Bambara Primary School gives students the opportunity to communicate and interact effectively with people from other cultural backgrounds. At Bambara Primary School our specialist Indonesian teacher teaches Bahasa Indonesian to students from Year 1 to Year 6. They learn about the Indonesian culture and basic phrases and scripts for communication. The lessons are highly interactive and integrate with all aspects of the primary curriculum.
Kindy and Pre Primary students access Bahasa Indonesian through the Department of Education’s ELLA program, an internet based program that teaches the language in an informal manner through games.
Learning a language in primary school forms a good foundation for students who intend pursuing the study of foreign languages in high school. Duncraig Senior High School, our feeder high school, offers Indonesian as one of its main languages.
